The City of Batavia Environmental Commission recently certified our school as a “green business.” To receive this designation, we have to be diligent in many areas, including composting, recycling and avoiding toxic cleaning products. We feel this is important, both in being good stewards of our precious world, and in showing our students how to take responsibility in caring for the earth that they are inheriting. Becoming Green Certified is a logical step for our school, which has always practiced a great love and caring for our environment.
And, we have just begun! We will continue to look for better ways to care for our planet and support sustainability. For example, our Junior high students will be doing an in-depth energy audit of our campus to learn how we can use our resources more responsibly.
Our Green Certification was presented at a Batavia City Council meeting, with a number of community leaders looking on. We’re very proud to be the ONLY school in Batavia with this designation!
